Upcoming events at first Pres
Join us this coming Sunday at 11 AM as worship is led by the children of First Pres!
Following worship this Sunday, you are invited to a Mardi Gras Potluck in the chapel!
On Wednesday, March 5th, we will join together in our sanctuary with members and friends from Memphis First United Methodist Church and Bunyn Presbyterian Church for Ash Wednesday worship. You are welcome to come to dinner at 5:30 PM. Worship will begin at 6:00 PM. Begin your Lenten season with us.
We live in a world that moves so fast, we often find ourselves tightening our grip just to hold on for dear life! This Lenten season, our seven-week series will look at the idea of “Letting Go,” and what scripture suggests we can learn and become if we dare to release our grip on things that might be holding us back in our disipleship journeys. Join us on Sundays from March 9th through April 20th (Easter) and join our community in this Lenten experience.
Beginning March 12th, our community will be gathering as a Lunch Bunch on Wednesdays at 12:30 PM for lunch at the Calvary Waffle Shop at Calvary Episcopal Church (downtown). Plan to arrive by 12:00 and you can catch one of the incredible guest preachers at the Calvary Lenten Preaching Series before dining with your friends!
Throughout Lent, the community at First Pres wants to know, “Where do you see God in the world?” Snap a picture, tell us about your encounter with God, and we will share the photos and stories with each other throughout the Lenten season. Email your photos and stories to [email protected] and we will compile them for sharing.
During the Season of Lent, we are inviting our First Pres children to participate in a service project raising funds to purchase honeybees through Heifer International. From the Heifer website: A Heifer honeybee gift donation includes a bee package, hive, box and training in beekeeping techniques. When you buy bees for a family in need, your gift increases the global honeybee population to support the environment. We will encourage our kiddos to ask their family and friends for support, host a lemonade stand, do extra chores, and explore other creative ways to help raise moeny and bring awareness to the importance of honeybees for communities here in Memphis and all around the world!
This year we will be celebrating our annual Easter Egg Hunt with the staff and families at the Hospitality Hub! Join us Saturday, April 12th at 3 PM at the Hub at 590 Washington Ave.
